The Firm
Gabriele Banfi studied law at the University of Lausanne and, after his legal traineeship, was admitted to the Bar in 2003.
From 2003 to 2010 he practised at a law firm in Lugano with an institutional and international clientele.
In 2011 he founded his own law firm in Lugano, with the aim of providing personal and direct assistance, based on availability, mutual trust and transparency of the terms of the engagement.
In the course of his practice he has acted both as an arbitrator and as counsel for a party.
He has gained experience before various judicial authorities and at various levels of the court system, including proceedings with international aspects and before the European Court of Human Rights.
The firm also has a significant success rate in appeals to the Federal Supreme Court.
His practice is particularly focused on criminal law and international mutual legal assistance in criminal matters. The firm also handles civil, banking, inheritance, insurance, debt enforcement and administrative disputes.
Each matter is assessed by considering the possible interactions between the different areas of law, the client’s objectives, procedural risks and foreseeable costs.
Gabriele Banfi is a member of the Swiss Bar Association (SBA) and the Ticino Bar Association (OATI). He previously served on the Council of the OATI and was appointed by the Cantonal Government to several commissions, including two commissions concerning the reform of criminal justice as part of the “Giustizia 2018” project.
